My Visual Poem

Hey world (and possibly beyond)! Thank you for coming to my blog. So the latest project we've done in GT is we made a visual poem about something we love. I did mine on Ireland (And sorry everyone expecting my Ireland blog post, it's so long and it is taking FOREVER! I hope to get it up by Christmas...) because when I was there over the summer I fell in love with it. I really hope you enjoy this blog post, and I would love to know what you guys are passionate about and what you did during the summer in the comments! Here is the video...

VercelliK VisualPoem from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

So in my Visual Poem Video, all the footage and pictures in it were things I took in Ireland.
My favorite shots were the very first one you see of the wing of the plane flying over the Irish west coast on our way there, the children playing music on the streets of Galway, the sheep on top of The Cliffs of Moher, and the beautiful side street with the cute coffee shop in Dingle. I think these shots are powerful because it shows what life is like there; the winding stone streets, misty atmosphere, rolling green hills, and in the last lines of the poem it says how you feel like you've lived there before, anyone who's been there would tell you the same.

The effects I put on my film were all audio effects and manipulations except for the fade in at the beginning and the fade out at the end (and speaking of which sorry for the end clip of my thumbs... it was an accident I didn't see when I finished editing). The first one is whistling winds in the Dunloe Hills and the second is a cow's moo also in the Dunloe Hills. I think these noises set the mood because they put you in the photographers shoes and pack a meaningful punch.

I am satisfied with my visual poem because I think that I well portrayed my view on Ireland and a different perspective that is not commonly looked at. some things that I could have done better would have to be editing in Final Cut Pro. I could have probably added in some more transitions to make the cuts smoother and more appealing. Also I did miss a couple of things like my thumbs at the end of the final fade to black (Or should I say fade to thumbs! "Thumbs Up" yo my horrible puns...), and some of my sound bites were cut off a bit. Overall I think I did pretty well considering this was my first time making a visual poem. This was my plan going through the entire process...

One thing I would change is how loud the wind was.
